Laser Eye Surgery Affords Great Vision To Those Who Have To Wear Spectacles

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Laser eye surgery, also called LASIK surgery can correct less than normal vision. In most cases the surgery is successful and the individual can see well without the aid of glasses or contact lenses. This type of surgery was developed in 1990 and has become increasingly popular.

Laser surgery has worked well with people that have myopia and hypermetropia. In perfect vision light goes into the eye through the lens. It is refracted or bent to fall on the retina, which focuses the image. When you wear eyeglasses the lens work with the natural lens of the eye to make the light refract and focus in the retina right where it is supposed to be.

The light overshoots the retina with people that have myopia. Instead the light hits the cornea, which cannot sharpen the image. When laser surgery is applied the cornea is reconfigured so that the light gets to the retina and focusing will no longer be a problem. The material in the center of the cornea is thinned out and removed. In hypermetropia the light is unable to get as far as the retina. In this case material is removed from the edges of the cornea and it allows the light to reach the retina.

How Much Does LASIK Eye Surgery Cost?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Most people believe LASIK eye surgery costs an arm and a leg. The truth is, when LASIK was first invented it was extremely expensive as most new procedures are. However, several years later the costs have dropped dramatically. The price you pay varies depending on many factors, such as the type of correction you need, the mapping and laser you choose, and the surgeons that perform the procedure.

Typically, the longer you suffer from eye problems, the more the costs increase. This is due to the fact that the complexity of your surgery is directly related to the severity of the correction that will be necessary.

Upon learning about the different LASIK mapping systems available, you should discover that wavefront is considered to be one of the best options, although it is the most expensive. The surgical procedure involves two different types of scalpels. One is a mechanical scalpel the other is a laser scalpel. Choosing to go with only the mechanical scalpel and no wavefront system, will keep the lowest costs at around $1500. Choosing to go with only the laser scalpel and no wavefront system, and you can expect to pay somewhere near $2000. If you want the best, and go for the laser scalpel and a wavefront mapping system, you can expect to pay nearly $2500.

Learn How To Pick Out And Apply Eyeshadow

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Eyeshadow shouldn’t be thought of as just adding color to your eyelids, it can also be used to accentuate the natural shape of your eyes. There are a wide variety of colors and consistencies when it comes to eyeshadow, there’s even red eyeshadow. With all the choices, it may be hard to choose a brand.

A good way to apply eyeshadow is to not just use one shade but three. By applying a lighter shade just under the brow you can make a highlight. The medium shade should be what you apply to the eyelid and then a darker shade still for the crease of the eyelid. This alone can really bring out your eyes and add depth to their look.

A tiny bit of face powder can really help you as you apply your eyeshadow; just use a puff to apply it before you put the eye color on. The powder can absorb the oils on your skin and smooth it out, allowing your eyeshadow to go on more smoothly and blend it much more easily than you would before.

What You Should Know About Tinting Eyelashes

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Makeup is generally not an accessory that you take with you to the beach. Are you a woman that prefers to not leave home without your mascara? Luckily for you, there is now a way to keep your lashes looking great while still enjoying the beach to its fullest. With eyelash and eyebrow dye, you can have the dark, tantalizing eyes you’ve wanted, and never have to use mascara again!

The eyelash tinting process dyes your lashes to give them look a darker, more prominent look. Eyelash tinting is designed to complement your skin type and hair color, and can be black, blue, shades of brown or gray, or whichever color best fits your complexion.

Eyelash tinting is beneficial for people who are sensitive to eye makeup, have little or no time to apply mascara each day, or are active in sports (especially those involving water). It is also ideal for people who wear contact lenses because they often have trouble applying mascara.

The non-surgical procedure is quick and uses a vegetable dye to tint the lashes. The result achieved with eyelash tinting is more natural than putting on mascara. For that reason, most spas and salons cannot make your natural eyelashes a lighter color.

Choosing The Best Color Contact Lenses For You

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I love color contact lenses so much that I have virtually tried every color and brand that can be tried. I have found that some colored contact lenses help to make my eyes much more attractive, while others are very noticeable and make my eyes look unattractive and fake. Through all my trial and error, I now understand how to choose the best color contact lenses for attractive eyes.

First of all, it is important to understand that color contact lenses come in two main categories: opaque lenses and enhancement color contacts. Enhancement color contacts are designed to change the color of your eye just a little bit, or to make your eyes look brighter and more sparkling. These contacts are best used by people with lighter eye colors, like blue, green, gray, or light brown. Since these lenses are partially transparent, they have a very natural appearance on the eye.

Opaque lenses fall on the opposite side of the spectrum and completely change the color of the eye. Since these lenses are not transparent at all, they are best for people with dark eyes. A good use for opaque color contacts would be when a person has brown eyes, but wants sky blue eyes. Enhancement lenses would not be able to make this kind of transition. People who have lighter colored eyes are able to wear either kind of lens, it simply depends on the change they are trying to achieve.
