Sometimes a diet like this can cause serious health problems as the body is not getting the nutrients it needs to be able to survive. Often the body will burn muscles before attacking the fat, as it considers itself to be starving. Once a person finishes one of these crash diets, they very commonly put all the weight back on again in short order as the body now tries to recover from the damage caused by the diet. In fact it is not unheard of for a person to gain more weight than they had in the first place!
