WoW Guide – How To Survive Escort Quests

The most common way to level your character in World of Warcraft is to go questing. But some people quickly get bored with constant dungeon crawling or grinding mobs, but there are other quests you can go on that will not only level your character but expand your horizons in the game itself. Why limit yourself to only one quest type? There’s more than one way to play. Sure there are the kill X amount of mob Y for person Z quests, but there are also quests to find a particular object in enemy lands, search for a specific device or gather certain items.

And finally there are the escort quests. These quests begin when you come across a friendly NPC who is trapped in a dangerous area. Like many quests of this type in games you need to lead the NPC through the are to a specified location, defending them from harm along the way. Escort quests have great rewards, but how can you survive what is usually the bane of a gamer’s existence?

Before partaking in an escort quest you want to make sure that you’re properly equipped for it. Put up buffs and make sure you have a full health bar before starting the quest. If you’ve got a pet tagging along make sure that you’re on its good side. You don’t have to take the quest right when you find it, so make sure you give yourself some preparation time first. These quests sometimes take you out of the area so double check that you’ve got everything in place before you begin.

Otherwise, follow your charge; when the character you serve goes, you go. Just a heads up: your charge will likely attract every mob that stands between you and your destination. Look sharp. It’s better to act than react, so you might as well draw in the mobs while you’re on guard when you can.

Don’t be alarmed when the object of your quest rushes to meet these mobs. They’ll come back as soon as you’ve taken care of business. Also, keep in mind that there is no quest without the character you’ve ventured to escort; don’t forget to monitor their health!

For many escort quests, they will suddenly trigger several guards or mobs into appearing and attack you. This is on top of the mobs you will be passing, so be careful. This is why preemptively pulling mobs is a good idea. The fewer people that you have to fight at a time, the better!

Warlocks and hunters generally have the upper hand in escort quests, along with their trusty pet companions. For those without a pet to bait impending mobs, you might consider placing your strength in numbers by teaming up with other players for your escort quest.

If you are nervous about an escort quest, read up on it in a WoW guide. A WoW guide can help you figure out whether you should take an escort quest at your level, or whether you should wait for a while!
