Fitflops – Choose The Right Exercise Shoe

When ex-personal fitness trainer Marcia Kilgore found that she just didn’t have enough time to get to the gym as often as she wanted, she decided to remedy the situation. Working together with the London South Bank University (LSBU) she developed a range of fitness shoes and sandals which are now available under the Fitflop brand name.

A special “microwobbleboard” sole, divided into three separate zones, is used in Fitflops. Each zone is constructed from materials of different densities, which helps to produce what the manufacturers refer to as a “microwobbleboard” effect. A high density material, which helps to cushion against shock while walking, is used in the heel sector. The mid-section uses a low density material and the toe section uses medium density material.

The net effect is that the timespan of muscle activity is expanded when walking normally – by up to 16%. What this means is that every single step you take in your Fitflops tones and trims your legs and helps to reduce the size of your buttocks. It’s like getting a lower body workout while you walk.

Normal walking in Fitflops can help you to maximize calf leg and buttock muscle activity, improve your posture, achieve better muscle tone and burn calories. In short, you can trim your legs and buttocks just by walking about normally – as you would be doing anyway.

After prolonged trials and research at LSBU, the Fitflop range was released in the UK in 2006. They were an instant hit – many people even had to join a waiting list just to get their hands on a pair of Fitflops.

Originally, and unsurprisingly perhaps considering the brand name, was made up mainly of sandals. However, based upon customer feedback, the range was greatly expanded. It now includes a good selection of sandals in a variety of colors and styles and clogs and boots have been added. Fitflops are available for both men and women and are now selling in the USA.

So if, like Marcia Kilgore, you find yourself with too little time to get to the gym, or if you just find it hard to motivate yourself to exercise, then why not consider a pair of Fitflops? Just pull them on instead of your normal shoes and walk about normally to get the benefit of exercising your lower body without having to modify your daily routine.
