November 22nd, 2009 by Clark Meyer Discuss this article »

One of the many aspects of the Feng Shui House decorating discipline is the necessity for having indoor air that is clean. To achieve balanced Chi, you need to improve the air quality in your house. The reasoning behind this is that the air you breathe inside your home is more damaging than outdoor air.

Pollution indoors can be a big issue when you want to use good Feng Shui at home or work. Trying to get the help of a Feng Shui consultant, putting to use the Feng Shui compass and Feng Shui Ba Gua will not do you any good unless all things you are able to control are beneficial to you, which means having clean air indoors. The lucky thing is that there are quite a few indoor plants that can help to purify your home’s air providing better Chi.

Before getting into a list of indoor plants that clean the air, it’s important to realize why you need them. You’ll find that many pollutants indoors are very harmful called VOCs or volatile organic chemicals. If you have carpeting, plastic products, products made from synthetic materials and even some kinds of plywood in the home, they break down slowly releasing the harmful VOCs. Certain air purifying plants work wonders in clearing the air.

Here is an abbreviated list of air purifying plants that will be beneficial to your Feng Shui House:

1. Boston Fern – This plant is adept at removing formaldehyde as well as other pollutants inside your home. These are beautifully popular plants that make a space extraordinary; however, they do need quite a bit of care from you.

2. Rubber Plant – This is a favorite house plant that will remove various types of pollutants, like formaldehyde. The rubber plant is very hardy and has a tough constitution that can withstand low light and cold temperature.

3. Peace Lily – This is a popular plant around Easter time, you should get a few of them that remove quite a bit of toxins from your indoor environment.

4. English Ivy – Formaldehyde can’t stand up against English Ivy. It’s easy to grow and helps to purify the air.

All of these plants do a good job at cleaning the air. However, it’s not a good Feng Shui House practice to use them in the bedroom. They put out a lot of energy, and you don’t want a lot of energy when trying to sleep. Use them throughout the home for great Feng Shui house and clean air, just keep them out of your room where you sleep.
