Experiencing The Very Real But Mysterious Chronic Daily Headache

A chronic daily headache can feel a bit akin to torture. There are commonly secondary symptoms like fatigue and a natural state of depression if the pain is constant enough. This doesn’t mean that your state is causing your headaches, but vice versa. It certainly isn’t helping them. Everything in your life can be seriously impacted by the constant return of significant pain. If you have a daily headache that never allows you a moment of pain free living and it seems stuck on one side of your head, you may have what is known as hemicrania continua. Congestion or an affected eye on the painful side will be present in some form. These require treatment as soon as possible. The consistent pain can be maddening, literally.

It’s very common to think that a chronic daily headache would be the result of a disease or illness such as a brain tumor. While it is true that some brain tumors are found this way, it is much more common that the blood vessels around the brain are agitated and inflamed. This pain is common in a regular headache.

One very common cause is actually what is known as a rebound headache. The rebound headache is one that returns as soon as the medication that you take for the headache wears off. If you are taking a good deal of medication you are highly likely to be experience a rebound headache. This includes medications for headaches and migraines that are over the counter purchases.

Sometimes this type of headache remains a mystery. There are not always obvious causes for the pain. Do not mistake no obvious cause with no real cause. Your pain can be treated even if your physician is not easily able to target what is responsible for your pain.
