As much as we think that we are doing our best to take good care of our bodies, there are times that this may not be enough. There may be cases where eating the right food, having enough sleep, regular exercises and living a healthy lifestyle may not be enough to keep you shielded from all kinds of diseases. Some may have thought that they had done everything to keep healthy and ignored the importance of having monthly checkups.

Breast cancer is one of the greatest causes of death for women, and is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths all over the world. Next to lung cancer, this is second most common cancers worldwide. Breast cancer, not so many people may be aware of, can also be experienced by men and not just women. Although the chances of women’s breast cancer is triple as high compared to men’s.

The good news is that with continuously growing awareness, cases of deaths continue to lessen each year. With the immense efforts made by some respected individuals and groups they help spread breast cancer awareness throughout the world. More and more people are becoming educated about how to get it diagnosed, how to prevent it and how important it is to have a regular check up.

It is not true that brassieres with under-wire can cause breast cancer, nor wearing a bra while sleeping. Even if knowing how to do self breast examination is being taught worldwide, this can be detected at a rather advanced stage. But still, self-check is advised to every woman all over the world, although a much better approach is to have a breast cancer screening done, so as to detect it at the early stage and have it cured by means of breast cancer treatments, if needed.

Breast cancer screening may include a variety of examinations such as an x ray, mammogram, breast MRI and others. These are not a cure, but are ways in which to discover if there are lumps and if you need to be alarmed or not. If ever lumps are found, additional examinations are done in order to discover if the lump is cancerous or not and take action to prevent it from getting worse.

If you have a family member that has had breast cancer, then other family members also have high chances of having the same illness. It is better to have the breast cancer diagnosed at an early stage, so that chances of survival will be much higher. Although it doesn’t mean that cancer in the advanced stage cannot be cured anymore. We are just trying to imply that taking care of your health is important and that any pain that you feel shouldn’t be taken for granted. In fact, even if you may think that there’s nothing wrong with your body, a regular check up is still recommended. Remember that some sicknesses such as cancer, can be a traitor that will take your life away from you without any notice.
