Are You Able To Control Your Anger?

Do you get angry from time to time? No matter, we all get angry from time to time, it’s a normal human response to some stressful and difficult situations. But when that gets out of control that’s another matter.

Although anger is a normal human emotion it can get out of control. It can become overpowering and if this happens to you then it can affect many different areas of your life in many different ways.

It can lead to all sorts of unusual behavior. There are so many ways that someone suffering from uncontrolled anger can manifest that. Some are obvious like shouting, but some are not so obvious. For example it can lead to behavior like short temperedness, sullenness, withdrawal into oneself, chronic grumpiness and overt aggression when dealing with other people.

And of course there’s the more well known symptoms like violence and threats of violence towards others including your family. When things reach this stage you have to tackle it or you’re on a slippery slope towards losing your relationships.

And when this occurs there can be serious impacts on your life, like your relationships breaking down, becoming lonely and resentful, withdrawal and even more serious implications.

And as well as the emotional life of the sufferer there can also be serious health implications too. There is evidence that uncontrolled anger can lead to a whole host of health problems including digestive problems, depression, heart problems and stroke, insomnia, anxiety and other related psychological problems. And high blood pressure and skin problems. Scary huh?

And it’s hard to predict when a serious episode will occur. There is of course nothing you can do to avoid triggers, these are normal life events and setbacks and frustrations that happen to everyone. They will happen to you too. Normally people get angry then get over it and get on with life.

But although you can’t stop the frustrating events happening to you you can change your reaction to them. The event will happen but you control how you react to it.

Your reaction is under your control. But of course just understanding that doesn’t change very much right now, you need to know more than that, but it does offer some hope to know that yes you can affect how you react.

There are indeed very good anger management techniques that do work well. Not all techniques work for everyone and some will need professional help, but some will not.

But there are some answers that will help if life is spiraling downhill. Anyone with anger management problems will need to make the decision to take control of their life and they also need to be prepared to do whatever it takes to learn. Then they need to start learning some effective anger management techniques.
