Beverley Hills Cop 3: Axel Foley is back in action. He witnesses his boss being murdered and immediately starts an investigation. This leads him back to L.A. where the clues lead him to a counterfeit ring run out of an amusement park.
Trader Horn: Early talkie classic filmed largely in Michigan forests still retains lots of enthusiasm in story of hero local trader Carey confronting tribal violence. Cast includes Harry Carey, Edwina Booth, Duncan Renaldo, Olive Brilliant Carey, Mutia Omoolu, and C. Aubrey Smith. (120 minutes,’31)
Rich Girl: Incredibly gentle time filler in reference to “meager little rich gal” Schoelen leaving her life of comfort in her daddy’s Bel-Air mansion and trying to make it on her own, ultimately hooking up with a blue-collar rock singer. Cast includes Jill Schoelen, Don Michael Paul, Sean Kanan, Ron Karabatsos, and Paul Gleason. (96 minutes,’91)
The Night of the Iguana: Trudging story based on Tennessee Williams play. Recovered alcoholic clergyman Burton, a bus-journey guide in Mexico, becomes involved with Kerr, Gardner, and Lyon. Dorothy Jeakins won an Oscar for her costumes. Cast includes Richard Burton, Deborah Kerr, Ava Gardner, Sue Lyon, Skip Ward, Grayson Chamber, and Cyril Delevanti. (118 minutes,’64)
The Dying Gaul: The mourning author of an auto biographical screenplay becomes erotically intertwined with a smooth producer, who offers him 1,000,000 dollars to produce the venture as long as he makes the gay protagonists straight. In the mean time, he becomes spiritually intertwined with the producers spouse, a prior screenwriter turned housewife. Twists, catastrophes, and fine acting mark this brilliant although thick personality research. Cast includes Patricia Clarkson, Campbell Scott, Peter Sarsgaard, Ryan Miller, Robin Bartlett, Linda Emond, and Jason-Shane Scott. (101 minutes, 2005)
Rockula: Teenage vampire Cameron is powerless to lose his virginity due to an age-old hex. Cast includes Dean Cameron, Tawny Fere, Susan Tyrrell, Bo Diddley, Thomas Dolby, and Toni Basil. (87 minutes,’90)
